Because CRR does not formally investigate cases, cases requiring investigation must also be referred to the police. Once CRR has been made aware of the complaint, CRR staff will meet with the survivor to review the case. CRR can provide a “no contact” letter to the accused student prohibiting that student from having any contact with the survivor. The letter will prohibit contact in person, electronically, in written form, by telephone or by third party. Violations of the “no contact” letter should be reported to CRR and could result in additional violations.
CRR will release no information on the identities of the parties involved in the student judicial process. While CRR will make no public comment, they cannot prevent other parties involved in the matter from making public comments.
Students charged with violations of the Student Code of Conduct are required to meet with a professional staff person to resolve the case. A disciplinary hearing will be held to determine if the Student Code of Conduct was violated. At the conclusion of the hearing, the Hearing Panel will prepare a written statement including a finding of facts, a rationale of the Panel’s decision and the sanctions applied.
