Watch out for yourself and your friends:
- Do not drink a beverage that you did not open yourself.
- Do not accept a drink unless you watch it being poured or opened. If someone offers you a drink from a bar or at a party, accompany the person to the bar and watch it being poured. Carry the drink yourself.
- Do not share or exchange drinks.
- Do not drink from a “punch bowl” ("Jungle Juice") or a container being passed around.
- Do not leave your drink unattended while dancing, talking, using the restroom, or making a phone call. If you accidentally leave your drink unattended, discard it.
- Do not drink anything that has an unusual taste or appearance (e.g. salty, excessive foam, unexplained residue).
- If you suspect a friend has been drugged – seems very drunk, gets sick, is having trouble breathing, passes out and cannot be awakened or is behaving unusually, get medical attention immediately! Do not assume the person just needs to “sleep it off”. They could die.
- If you see or hear of someone “dosing” a drink or punch bowl – do something. Throw the drink away and warn others.
- Go out with friends you trust and agree to look out for one another. Appoint one person to be the “sober buddy” –someone who won’t drink and will watch out for friends. Leave parties with people you know. Do no leave alone or with someone you don’t know very well.
- Warn friends about places such as clubs or parties where “dosing” is known to have happened.
