Sexual Assault Statistics at ISU
The following is a summary of sexual assaults reported. Additional information on reported assaults can be found on the Campus Crime and Security Report
ISU Statistics
Time Period: July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2006
- 31* sexual assaults were reported (*remember, most are not reported)
- 61% were freshmen or sophomores; all were females
- 84% were assaulted by an acquaintance
- 96% involved a single assailant (one case involved multiple assailants)
- 68% were off campus
- 32% were on campus (all occurred within the residence halls)
- 86% reported using alcohol prior to the assault
- 64% of those were “too intoxicated” to legally consent
- 29% suspected they had been given a “date rape drug”
- 47% reported use of physical force during the assault
Time Period: July 1, 2004 through June 30, 2005
- 36* sexual assaults were reported (* remember, most are not reported)
- 53% were freshmen or sophomores; all were female
- 89% were assaulted by an acquaintance
- 100% involved a single assailant
- 75% were off campus
- 25 % were on campus (all but two occurred within a residence hall)
- 61% reported using alcohol prior to the assault
- 89% of those were “too intoxicated” to legally consent
- 11% suspected they had been given a “date rape drug”
- 53% reported use of physical force during the assault
Time Period: July 1, 2003 through June 30, 2004
- 27* sexual assaultsreported (*remember, most are not reported)
- 63% were freshmen or sophomores; all were female
- 81% assaulted by an acquaintance
- 89% single assailant
- 11% involved multiple assailants
- 70% occurred off campus (usually a private residence)
- 22% occurred on-campus (all but 1 occurred within the residence halls)
- 70% reported using alcohol prior to assault
- 57% of those were “too intoxicated” to legally consent
- 26% suspected they had been given a “date rape drug”
- 48% reported use of physical force during the assault
Time Period: July 1, 2002 through June 30, 2003
- 23* sexual assaults reported (*remember, most are not reported)
- 70% were freshmen or sophomores; all were females
- 87% were assaulted by an acquaintance
- 83% single assailant
- 17% involved multiple assailants
- 56% occurred off-campus
- 43% occurred on-campus (all but 2 occurred within the residence halls)
- 70% reported using alcohol prior to the assault
- 94% of those were “too intoxicated” to legally consent
- 9% suspected they had been given a “date rape drug”
- 30% reported use of physical force during the assault

- 39* sexual assaults were reported (*remember, most are not reported)
- 64% were freshmen or sophomores; all were female
- 87%were assaulted by an acquaintance
- 92% single assailant; 8% involved multiple assailants
- 82%occurred off-campus
- 18% were on campus (all occurred within the residence halls)
- 72% reported using alcohol prior to the assault
- 43% of those were “too intoxicated” to legally consent
- 15% suspected they had been given a “date rape drug”
- 50% reported use of physical force during the assault
